Dolphin square Altinkum
The name Altinkum means “Golden Sands” and it has three of the best beaches on the Aegean Coast with golden sand, crystal clear blue sea, gently shelving shore, lifeguards and plenty of sunbeds for hire all ideal for families. It offers a variety of watersports, including scuba diving as well as banana boats.
A pedestrianised promenade with bars, restaurants and shops runs along the back of the beach while Dolphin Square comes alive at night and offers more lively bars and restaurants.
The new marina is already completed and fully working in Altinkum Didim. The easy to use (and cheap) Dolmus bus makes it easy to get around and the ancient Temple of Apollo and the new Aquapark are both just a few minutes’ ride away and well worth a visit.
There are plenty of other things to do too with boat trips, horse riding, local markets, designer shopping outlets, jeep safaris, turkish baths and a ferry to the island of Kos all available.
Places to visit include Ephesus (one of the world’s most famous ancient Roman cities), Miletas Theatre which dates back to 400BC, Pamukkale (a natural wonder of thermal springs stalactites, white moon craters and crystallised waterfalls) Dalyan Turtle Beach (home to the loggerhead turtles with spectacular scenery in one of Turkey’s largest national parks) and Bafa Lake (with several ruins around its shores).
There are several companies in the resort offering day trips at very reasonable prices. Altinkum has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and is popular with British tourists. It has several supermarkets and banks and many bars, restaurants and shops within a few minutes’ walk of the apartment.
